Visual identity
What this style brings to your menu
Fat Lulu's visual identity is built around a high-prop, ingredient-storytelling studio aesthetic for its core pizza range, paired with a cleaner, more casual lifestyle approach for its main-course plates. The unifying thread is generosity — generous toppings, generous prop density, generous colour. Every pizza image is shot on the same dark rust-brown matte concrete surface, surrounded by a curated ring of raw ingredients (cherry tomatoes, garlic, basil, chilli, olives, onions, herbs) and a signature wicker basket of greens in the upper corner, communicating that the food is made from real, fresh components rather than processed shortcuts. The wooden pizza boards and dark slate rounds act as warm, rustic pedestals that lift the pizza off the cold surface. The non-pizza mains (Chicken Milanese, Louisiana Chicken, Cottage Cheese Steak) break from the studio formula into naturalistic overhead or high-3/4 shots on warm wood or stone, with the food plated on wide white ceramic rounds. These images feel more like social-media lifestyle captures than the polished commercial studio set — slightly more ambient lighting, tighter crop on the plate, and far fewer props. This bifurcation suggests two different photography briefs were used and represents the key inconsistency in the brand's visual system. The dominant colour story is warm Italian — deep reds, fresh greens, cream/ivory, and the mahogany brown of the surface — with punchy accent colours from golden olive oil, yellow corn, and teal ceramic bowls. The overall tone is confident, appetite-forward, and informal without feeling cheap, sitting squarely in the family-casual Italian-American lane rather than the fine-dining or fast-food ends of the spectrum.
